These handy hints will help you organize your Security+ study and SY0-701 exam prep. Information about how to book the exam, as well as what to expect on test day, will help ensure that you’re well prepared to go into the exam with confidence and without any nasty surprises.

Study Guide

This contains an overview of the Security+ Certification Guide, published by Packt, and available on Amazon as a print book or as a Kindle eBook. This menu option also has a number of glossary pages, helping you to understand the key terms that you'll need to know for the CompTIA certification exam.

Flashcards

Security+ flashcards are a great way to assess your knowledge through low-stakes testing and instant feedback. There are five sets of mixed flashcards, A-E, plus a Ports Quiz that specifically tests your knowledge of different ports. The front of each card displays a question and clicking the card will flip it over to reveal the answer on the reverse side.

Acronyms

These are five more sets of flashcards, specifically designed to test your knowledge of Security+ acronyms. You’ll need to be able to recognize and recall many of these acronyms in the exam, as well as in the real world, so these flashcards are an ideal way to make sure you know your ACLs from your ALEs. They’re grouped alphabetically to help organize your practice into manageable chunks.

PBQs

In your exam, you’ll need to answer some performance-based questions. These are a bit different to standard multiple-choice questions – they’re more interactive and require you to solve a problem in a mock virtual environment. The PBQs available on this site are based around a drag-and-drop activity that will test your understanding of specific Security+ topics. There are three different sets of Security+ PBQs for you to try: Certificates, Attacks, and Wireless.

Mock Exams

Ian Neil's book has 3 online mock exams, each have 75 questions. The right and wrong answers are provided on completion of each exam. This gives you the look and feel of the real exam and lets you know whether you should spend $425 on an exam voucher. Ian's book also provides you will a voucher that gives you a $50 discount for the exam.
